Our Commitment
ChefGather is committed to making its website, recipes, community features and related services accessible to as many people as possible, including people with disabilities.
Our goal is to provide a website that is clear, understandable and usable across different devices, browsers and methods of interaction. We recognise that accessibility is an ongoing responsibility, and we will continue reviewing and improving the website as ChefGather develops.
Accessibility benefits everyone. Clear headings, readable text, understandable instructions and predictable navigation can help people with visual, hearing, motor, cognitive or other access needs, as well as people using mobile devices or slower connections.
Accessibility Standard
ChefGather uses the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, WCAG 2.2 Level AA, as its accessibility target. These internationally recognised guidelines explain how digital content can be made more perceivable, operable, understandable and robust.
At the date of this statement, ChefGather has not undergone a complete independent accessibility audit. We therefore do not claim that every page or feature fully conforms to WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
We are working towards this standard as the website, recipe platform and community features are designed, tested and improved. This statement will be updated when more complete accessibility testing has been conducted or when significant accessibility changes are introduced.
Measures We Take
When developing and maintaining ChefGather, we work towards the following accessibility practices:
Using a logical heading structure and meaningful page organisation.
Providing readable text with appropriate spacing and colour contrast.
Supporting keyboard navigation wherever reasonably possible.
Maintaining visible keyboard focus on interactive controls.
Giving buttons and links understandable names.
Providing alternative text for meaningful images.
Avoiding the use of colour as the only way to communicate important information.
Using visible labels and instructions for form fields.
Providing understandable validation and error messages.
Creating responsive layouts that work across desktop, tablet and mobile devices.
Avoiding unnecessary movement, flashing content or automatically playing media.
Reviewing important templates and features with accessibility-checking tools and manual testing.
Some measures may still be under development or may not yet be available consistently across every part of the website.
Using ChefGather
ChefGather is designed to support different ways of accessing and navigating the website. Depending on your device and software, you may be able to:
Enlarge text using your browser’s zoom controls.
Navigate interactive elements using a keyboard.
Use a screen reader or other assistive technology.
Access the website on desktop, tablet or mobile devices.
Adjust your browser, device or operating-system accessibility settings.
Move through pages using headings, links and other structured elements.
For the best experience, we recommend using a current version of a widely supported browser and keeping your operating system and assistive technology updated.
We cannot guarantee compatibility with every combination of browser, device, operating system and assistive technology. If you experience a problem, please contact us and explain the page, feature and technology involved.
Content, Images and Media
ChefGather works to make recipe content understandable and accessible in different formats.
Meaningful photographs and illustrations should include appropriate alternative text that describes their relevant purpose or content. Decorative images may be marked so that assistive technologies can ignore them.
Recipe instructions should use clear headings, ingredient lists and ordered preparation steps where appropriate. We also aim to avoid placing essential recipe information only inside an image.
When ChefGather publishes video or audio content, we will work towards providing captions, transcripts or other suitable alternatives where reasonably possible. Older media or content supplied by third parties may not always include every accessibility feature.
If an image, video or other item prevents you from accessing important information, contact us and we will try to provide the information in another suitable format.
Forms and Account Features
ChefGather includes forms and may provide registration, profile, recipe-submission and account-management features.
We work to ensure that form fields have understandable labels, required information is identified clearly and validation messages explain what needs to be corrected. Forms and account controls should also be operable using a keyboard wherever reasonably possible.
Some security, verification or anti-spam services are provided by third parties and may behave differently depending on the browser or assistive technology being used.
If you cannot complete a form, create or manage an account, submit a recipe or use another interactive feature, please contact us. Tell us which form or feature caused the difficulty, and we will try to provide assistance or another way to complete the requested action.
Community Contributions
ChefGather allows members of its community to submit recipes, profile information, photographs and other material.
Although we provide guidance and may review submitted content, we cannot guarantee that every item supplied by a contributor will immediately meet all accessibility requirements.
Contributors should use clear recipe titles, structured ingredient lists, understandable preparation steps and meaningful descriptions for important images. Videos should include captions or a written alternative whenever reasonably possible.
ChefGather may edit descriptions, add alternative text, reorganise content or request changes where this is necessary to improve accessibility, clarity or consistency. Content that creates a significant accessibility or usability problem may be corrected, restricted or removed.
Users can report inaccessible community content through our Contact Us page.
Third-Party Services
ChefGather may use or display services supplied by third parties, including embedded media, social-media features, advertisements, affiliate links, analytics, security checks, cookie-consent tools and external websites.
We do not control every aspect of these third-party services and cannot guarantee that they will meet the same accessibility standards as ChefGather.
Where reasonably possible, we aim to select accessible services and provide understandable labels or alternatives. However, accessibility may vary when you leave ChefGather or interact with embedded third-party content.
If a third-party service prevents you from accessing important ChefGather information or completing an essential action, please contact us. We will consider whether an alternative can be provided.
Known and Possible Limitations
ChefGather is still developing and has not yet completed a full independent accessibility assessment. Possible areas requiring further review or improvement include:
Alternative text or descriptions supplied with community-uploaded images.
Captions or transcripts for older or third-party media.
Heading structures or link descriptions on older content.
Some dynamic filters, search tools, forms or account interactions.
Third-party security, advertising, social-media or embedded-content features.
Downloadable documents that may not have been created in a fully accessible format.
Compatibility with less common or older combinations of browsers and assistive technologies.
This list does not necessarily mean that every listed problem is present on every page. It identifies areas that may require further testing or improvement.
If you encounter an accessibility barrier, please report it so that we can investigate the specific problem.
Ongoing Improvements
Accessibility is part of ChefGather’s continuing development process.
As the website grows, we intend to review important page templates, navigation, forms, recipe content, community tools and account features. This may include automated checks, keyboard testing, colour-contrast reviews, screen-reader testing and feedback from users.
We will prioritise accessibility problems that prevent people from accessing essential information, managing their accounts, submitting content or contacting ChefGather.
Future changes to the website will be assessed with accessibility in mind, although it may take time to identify and correct every issue.
Feedback and Assistance
We welcome feedback about the accessibility of ChefGather.
If something is difficult to find, understand, access or operate, please contact us and include as much of the following information as you can:
The address or title of the affected page.
The feature, form or content you were trying to use.
A short description of the problem.
The device and browser you were using.
Any assistive technology involved, if you are comfortable sharing this information.
The format or assistance that would help you access the information.
You are not required to disclose a disability or provide sensitive medical information when reporting an accessibility problem.
We will review accessibility feedback and respond as soon as reasonably possible. Where appropriate, we will try to provide the requested information in another format or suggest an alternative way to complete the action.
Changes to This Statement
We may update this Accessibility Statement when ChefGather’s services, accessibility practices, technology or applicable requirements change.
The latest version will be published on this page. The “Last updated” date at the top of the statement will show when the most recent material revision was made.
We encourage users to review this statement periodically, particularly when new community, account or content features are introduced.
